Cape Disappointment Lighthouse

Built in 1856, this is the oldest lighthouse in Washington and the only one with a black stripe daymark—a black stripe around the tower. It was built to aid ships entering the Columbia River. It sits within Cape Disappointment State Park at Ilwaco and can be accessed via a trail from Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center. Tours are offered in the summer months. For tour times and other information, call 360.6423078 or go to www.parks.wa.gov and find Cape Disappointment State Park under "Park Information."
